Driving behaviour change in Lebanon through smart, shareable design

To support Lebanon’s ongoing reforms in municipal solid waste management, NIRAS delivered a powerful communications campaign designed to build citizen awareness and local government engagement.

Working closely with the EU-funded Waste Governance Technical Assistance project, our communications specialists transformed complex messages into clear, impactful visuals — from a series of infographics to social media-ready artwork designed specifically for WhatsApp sharing. Every piece was translated into Arabic to reach audiences across the country.

We also developed a practical, visually engaging monthly calendar for municipal authorities — with QR codes linking to short educational content including videos. This light, easily distributed digital solution helped municipalities share waste-sorting tips directly with their constituents while reducing printing waste.

With cohesive storytelling and strong visual identity, the campaign supported behaviour change efforts where it matters most: in households and communities across Lebanon. By turning insights into accessible designs and tools, NIRAS helped spark conversations, build acceptance for reforms, and put better waste governance into everyday practice.
