Our offering

NIRAS helps development finance institutions (Fis), banks, investors and governments turn finance into sustainable results. We strengthen the institutions that provide capital and the businesses and projects that use it, offering practical support before, during and after investment.

On the supply side, we work with development banks, commercial banks, investment funds and other FIs to expand their reach and effectiveness.

Our support includes market analysis, the design of financing instruments and products, stronger lending and investment processes, and capacity building to help institutions serve clients in underserved or challenging markets. We also help investors assess opportunities, improve due diligence and identify viable projects with strong development potential.

On the demand side, we help businesses become ready to access and use finance. Through technical assistance facilities and targeted advisory services, we strengthen their operations, financial management and ability to meet lender or investor requirements.

This support can begin at incubation, continue through investment preparation and carry on after financing is secured.

More generally on investment, NIRAS conducts a multitude of projects supporting SMEs to build their capacity for growth, enhancing their abilities to access finance, preparing them for engaging with lenders and investors. This business development support work is elaborated in our Private Sector Development and Trade pages.
Once investments are made, we work with funds and their investees to improve performance, resilience and impact.

We design and deliver capacity-building programmes, provide specialist advice, support the implementation of environmental and social action plans, and strengthen how results are measured and managed.

Our TA supports investments from initial assessment through portfolio development to the evaluation of results.

At each stage, we help clients make informed decisions, strengthen performance and understand the impact their investments deliver:
